07 May Former Navy Seal Becomes Unashamed Gospel Evangelist, Meet Tranformers Actor, Remi Adeleke
The son of a well-known Nigerian engineer and a homemaker, Remi Adeleke lived the life of opulence until the year 1987 when his father suddenly died.
His father’s death brought an end to the luxurious lifestyle he had grown used to, living him to begin a life filled with constant adversity and struggles.
Remi Adeleke tried to find a father in the things around him. Through music, culture and peers. After spending himself, he found his way out by joining the military. But even becoming a Navy SEAL wasn’t enough.
It was in his time of struggle, Remi began to do something he hadn’t done in years – question God’s plan.
“I had time to reflect on my life and I didn’t like what I saw,” Adeleke recalled. “I decided I need to try this Jesus [thing] out because nothing that I’m doing on my own is working and if Jesus is really who everyone says he is, then I have nothing to lose at this point.”
In 2008 God got his attention. God allowed Remi to fall so low that he had no choice but to lean on Him, learn from Him, and finally acknowledge Him. And upon acknowledging Christ, Remi realized that the Father that he yearned to have (after the death of his father) was with him all along.
He said, “I truly believe that God allowed me to go through all that I went through in order to make me the man I am today. He was building my story; a story that would one day be used for His glory. I didn’t grow up in the Bronx, or in a single parent home for no reason. I didn’t become a Navy SEAL ‘just because’.
Jesus definitely came through for him as he shared his testimony.
Adeleke soon found himself married and working as a motivational speaker after retiring from active duty.
However, Adeleke was struggling financially, so when he was approached by Katherine Humphries, a casting agent, for a role as an extra on “Transformers: The Last Ship,” he agreed.
He hated it and when Humphries reached out to him again, he said “Absolutely not.” But when she said it was for a one-day role in a Michael Bay movie, he jumped at the opportunity.
One day turned into three weeks and Adeleke found himself with a significant role in “Transformers: The Last Knight.”
“There’s no way I could have orchestrated this at all,” he said.
