11 Apr Never Lose Your Laughter, Joy Is A Weapon – Gbeminiyi Obadan
I HAVE BEEN JOBLESS FOR A LITTLE OVER 3 MONTHS. This is a very strange experience for someone like me who hates being idle.
Throughout my 5 years in Uni, I always took on internships during long holidays, so this one don overpass long holiday.
It has been all sorts of crazy, from doubting myself, doubting my dreams, doubting my passions, my intelligence, lool the endless wait for call backs from attending interviews, haha don’t even get me started on how i frequently refresh my gmail, whenever I get an email notification and I hurriedly check my inbox only to see some stupid email I feel like ‘swearing for someone’ 😑😑
Let’s not even talk about my brief stint of keeping malice with God 😑😑, or how I woke up one morning and realised I was on the brink of depression, I could feel myself slipping into that dark place (story for another day)
The crazy part in all of this is that I never lost my laughter, it’s crazy if you ask me, things seem funnier to me, I laugh these days with reckless abandon, I still encourage people, pray with people, and make people laugh.
I was in the bathroom one day and I heard these words in my spirit ‘JOY IS A WEAPON’ I pondered on it till I realised I was fighting the darkness with JOY from within.
Joy gotten from my relationship with Jesus (That’s who this post is about btw)
John 1:4 talking about Jesus says in him was life, and the life was the light of all men.
It is this same light that I see at the end of the tunnel whenever I look up, it is this light that has given me joy and helped me laugh.
I never lost my laughter because I never lost Jesus, I couldn’t even loose Him if I tried, He has promised never to leave nor forsake me, so we are kinda stuck together.
If you want to receive this light called Jesus, please say the prayer below: ‘
Dear Jesus, thank you for who you are, I have heard that you are light and life, and would really love to receive you, I open my heart to you today, I give you room to come in, illuminate my being and chase every darkness away’. Thank you Jesus.
