YOLO! Live Your Life Like The Eagle

Happy New Year MAGlovers. It is exciting to be part of 2019, thanks for your supports and encouragements through the past year, we shall rise and multiply this year by the grace of God.

So while going through my archive thinking of what to share, I came across my jottings from a book a dear sister borrowed me some years back and I thought it just might be good inspiration to us in the new year. Call it lessons from the Eagle:

Eagles fly alone at high altitudes, and not with sparrows or other small birds. This new year, choose to mingle with ambitious and determined people as yourself; there are prophetic implications to association. We may need to make an audit of our inner circle or seek new mentors. We also need to know that where we will be in five or ten years time would be determined by those surrounding us today. Do not aspire for great heights while flocking with birds of ordinary feathers.

Eagles have strong vision. No matter the obstacle, the eagle will not move its focus from the prey until it grabs it. Have a vision, make it plain, develop a strategy and keep your focus on it until there is fulfillment. Like some will say, “focus on your focus”; success is inevitable. Also, learn to manage obstacles and distractions. Even though some might praise us for attempting a crucial opportunity but our story is only sweet to the ear when success is achieved. Failure rarely inspires.

Eagles don’t eat dead things; they feed only on fresh prey. Guard your heart with all diligence, get rid of outdated information and seek new knowledge – remain positive about life. We should be like the sons of Issachar who understood the times and seasons of life. Before innovation replaces our source of livelihood with software applications or robotics, let revelation and corresponding action give us an edge.

Eagles love the storm. While other birds go into hiding, the eagle uses the raging storm to lift itself above the cloud. We can use the storms of life profitably to rise to greater heights. The eagle loves the storm, it is always an opportunity to show its uniqueness while scaling new heights. Success is not for the ordinary mind, in this new year let us choose to be different. We might need to observe the crowd and do the opposite to obtain the crown.

The eagle tests before it trusts. The female eagle tests many times the commitment of the male counterpart before submitting herself, you might consider this a marital counsel. Whether in private life or business, we should test commitment of people intended for partnership. Like gold, genuine people are scarce. Whether we succeed or fail this year, some relationships will be the game changer. For our ship of success not to sink, thoroughness in who we trust with vital information and position is key.

The Eagle parents protect their eggs far away from predators. They train them to fly even though it is difficult for the young eagle. We must always prepare for changes. Active involvement of both partners in parenting helps the children to succeed. The people who love us do not let us languish in sloth but push us hard to grow and prosper. In whatever situation we occupy this year, progressive posterity should guide us. We should be role models worthy of emulation, be a lover of those behind you, they will appreciate your mentorship.

Getting to the top is not easy but staying at the top requires much more than it took to get there. Eagles at old age secludes itself once every year for 40 days, plucks out every feather of its body until completely bare and stays in hiding until new feathers are grown. During this time, it feeds only on honey and water where available. The eagle fasts while in hiding. We occasionally need to shed off old habits and other things. Man needs constant renewal of strength in the secret place, and like the eagle, we should be unashamedly naked before the creator, laying down all issues before him. Retreating to receive new revelation is key to sustaining success. We reaffirm identity and convictions in the secret place. If you don’t know who you are, people will tell you who you are not just because you seem outdated.

We should be careful in this “fast food, fast money” generation. Genuine success is never built overnight, it takes time and persistence. The eagle waits patiently until its wings grow before leaving its place of seclusion. You don’t want to be announced to the world while still in preparation mode. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit, we must be patient to wait in God’s presence. No one wins the Olympics by mistake, paying the full price of success is important. We should be ready to go through the process and build character. Success without character is a delayed disaster.

In conclusion, as we take to action the gleanings from this message in and beyond 2019, I believe we will congratulate and merry with each other at the top.

Once again, Happy New Year. Cheers!
